1 in 5 children now face mental health difficulties. Only 1 in 3 receive the help they need. If they do, they may be waiting more than 2 years for it. With limited capacity and scattered journeys, the plan shifted from “raising awareness” to engineering activation. Every touchpoint was designed to pull young people back into action, while giving parents and school staff clear, low-friction paths from first concern to first support.
Belonging, not broadcasting
Mental ill health often shows first as withdrawal, not speaking up, not joining in. So digital can’t just inform, it must feel safe to enter. The plan assumed financial barriers, fear of judgement and silent help-seeking, especially around self-harm and eating concerns. Content was designed for private, self-guided access, with a tone that rebuilds hope especially for girls, where hope is collapsing fastest.
Support made usable, immediately
The result was a ready-to-deploy school toolkit, with journey maps, message frameworks and safe digital content that could be turned on fast. It enabled earlier access, engaged children most at risk of disengaging, and could be adapted safely by each school without friction, delay or dependency on external resources.
